About Me

Kyle Mathias

My name is Kyle Mathias. I first got into audio production when I was 16 years old. My friends and I wanted to record our band, but had no money to pay someone to do it. We saved up and bought some cheap mics and an audio interface. Little did I know that one day I would do this for a living.

After high school, I went to a four-year university to study audio production. I was captivated by the science behind audio and the tools used to capture and manipulate it. The university also gave me access to some of the best equipment on the market. I made mistakes and gained experience.

After graduating from the program, I went to work for a live sound company that did work for music festivals, corporate events, and conventions.  I love the high-pressure environment of live sound. It’s really exciting to troubleshoot signal flow under pressure! I’ve also gained experience in designing audio and video systems for a variety of purposes and spaces.

I am thankful that I’ve been able to experiment with audio equipment, work with world-class engineers and technicians, and learn the underlying concepts of audio. I believe experimentation and understanding the basic principles are the most important elements for becoming a successful audio engineer.

In the world of audio, if you learn why and how systems work, you can apply that knowledge in many ways. Learning the fundamentals makes you very powerful in the audio industry.

Whether you aspire to become a professional audio engineer or you just need help creating audio content, I hope Audio University will help. Thanks for taking the time to check it out.
